For Mommy Dyne Poem by Lilibeth Apat

For Mommy Dyne

We might be separated by 24 years
A generation apart by experiences
I knew you’d be a nice friend to have
But never thought you’d turn out to be
as wonderful as you are to me.

You’re like a real mom in this faraway land
Your care and affection, as constant as the tide
Your smiling face shows me the sunny side of life
Your advice is like a nugget, for me to live by.

I want to mature just like you
Undaunted by challenges, as resilient as bamboo
The epitome of a total woman - friend, daughter, mother, wife
Everything good, everything nice, rolled into one.
