Khembottra Oum

For My Aunt - Poem by Khembottra Oum

There's no mistake
that your kindness
affected us all.
A quiet struggle
amidst of darkness,
you still chose to love
without prejudice,
without eyes.
As I watched you die,
I couldn't believe
how sad and...beautiful
death could be.
Your spirit rises, colored
in heaven's grace.
You opened your heart
to anyone who needed it
You opened your life
so that everyone felt loved.
This is what you taught me, Aunt.
This is what you gave me.
Thank you, Goodbye,
and love you always.
