Forgive Me - Poem by Jesse Willson

This memory will not go away

It continues to haunt my dreams

All through the night

I can still hear your screams of pain

Echoing in my ears

I can still feel your blood on my hands

I can still feel the pain in my heart

As you begged me to save your life

I am sorry for my failure

To give you the one thing

You never had

A life of happiness

A life of light

Then, as you faded into darkness

I begged you

Forgive me

But your answer was never heard

Now I live in darkness

And my soul continues to cry

Forgive me
