Forgiven, Not Forgotten - Poem by Pete Heron

It doesn’t really matter anymore,
What words were said,
What deeds were left undone,
It doesn’t really matter anymore,
For now she’s dead,
Her songs are left unsung,
Her words were lies,
Her deeds mere foolish things,
That led me to believe,
That no such love could ever die,
But now those lies,
Those hidden thoughts and deeds,
Those quiet hands and hints can now no more deceive,
It doesn’t really matter anymore,
That when I loved,
I thought she loved me too,
And now she’s gone,
What can I really do?
