Gold! Comments

Rating: 2.5
Gold! Gold! Gold! Gold!
Bright and yellow, hard and cold
Molten, graven, hammered and rolled,
Heavy to get and light to hold,

Thomas Hood

To save - to ruin - to curse - to bless - As even its minted coins express: Now stamped with the image of Queen Bess, And now of a Mary.

Again he amazes me with the flow of his lines and those perfect rhymes - - I think it would do all writers good to start their day by reading a Thomas Hood poem. I enjoyed this romp through the usage of language and scorn of all that is shallow!

C.A. Morrow...Thomas Hood was a most underrated poet, this poem is so emotionally contempary.....anyone that doesn't appreciate it's subtlety obviously has language difficulties
