Good Life - Poem by Benjamin Goudberg

The good life is there staring in your face
Right until the moment its taken away
You fall to your knees asking why
But then life would pass you by

The wounded walk upright to fool
Those onlookers who would think
Things are alright in their minds
Farther from the truth they could not be

Death stares us in the face
Tells us our time is limited
And control is but the grandest illusion
We are transient in this life

Love shows us to our core
How we wish to view ourselves
The hope we have for our lives
The desire to smile for the now

Driving down the road once seen in light
Darkness covers all but there is a faint sign of hope
The sound of Music coming through me
The words that will move me

This is my God's reminder I am looked after somehow
Though my importance is not yet revealed.
Urged on by those that love me
I can not give up - I don't know how to.
