LuLu Gordon Chanel

Rookie (Mississippi)

Guard - Poem by LuLu Gordon Chanel

Only once have I opened the door
Only to have it eaten by termites

The destruction required massive cleanup
Only no workers seemed present to volunteer their help
However that door was built up again and secured immediately
With a lock and no key

Along came someone a'knockin
These four walls will never get peace.
I refuse,
I refuse,
I refuse!
To ever reopen that door.
