Guns Poem by Barry Middleton

Guns

Rating: 5.0

they say that knives can kill
but that is not the purpose
of a knife

they say that cars can kill
but that is not the purpose
of a car

bricks can kill
and stones can kill
but that is not their purpose

they say that words
may inspire death
or they may inspire life

and they say that guns kill
and that is the only purpose
of a gun

I loved your poem and would like to know what you intended for your central idea to be. Thank you for your time.

A poem with a powerful message and photo image. You remind us that we need to know what the primary purpose of objects, appliances and weapons is. With guns-to kill, no question. I completely oppose the gun control lobby in your country and the availability of rifles in New Zealand. Gunfire massacres happen too often and kill innocent people.

Thanks. Gun violence in America is a national shame.31422. Hopefully our government will finally act and ban military weapons.

I was not brought up in a gun culture, so i don't understand the reason why some people say they can't live without their guns. Guns are made to kill, but in the end they need a human to make it work.....Great work. Annette

There is no excuse even withing a gun culture to have these military type weapons on the street killing both our citizens and our police.

One purpose of a gun is to defend our freedom. Have you noticed that in the movies the police always shoot at people who run away? Who is to blame for all the shootings?
