Elaine, I thought about just a card for you
But a simple card just wouldn't do
With all the years we have been friends
Birthdays always have certain trends.

But I needed to add a picture and poem as well
As my thoughts go back when our lives rose and fell
We were brand new moms when we first met
Your baby girl was as cute as they get.

My Trina Ann was my golden charm
I was oh, so smitten as she filled my arms
Our friendship grew, the years rolled by
Sometimes we laughed, sometimes we cried.

So after all these years our friendship is strong
We always have visits that seem to belong
Then lunch with our husbands' as well
Our bodies got older, of course we can tell.

But our friendship stayed constant and true
We are there for each other, for me - for you
Yes, birthdays are simply lifelong trends
But especially important to one's best friend!
