Home - Poem by Anna Dietze

What I wish it could be
Loving, happy family
Then truth sinks in
My home is not even close
Fighting, arguing, bitching
None stop
The kids are told so many things
That they need to work more
When they already worked on the barn
For 6 hours
Both parents fighting
About disciplining kids
While the kids sit in their rooms
Listening to all the harsh words said
About them
Coming from their step-father
Their mother can’t believe her ears
This coming from the man she married
The man she thought was good for her kids
Mental abuse, verbal abuse, emotional abuse
Where does it end?
It doesn’t
My once “home-sweet-home”
Isn’t so sweet anymore
