Homos Poem by Nassy Fesharaki

Homos

Homos

I can see Arabic on the tin
-and photo of chickpeas
- "Boiled, homos…"
-I can read.

The cost is far below a dollar.

It is cheap…
Makes me think…

"Each can is a full meal, "
-I think and compare it
-with the fast and junk food.

Healthier, tastier, also save
-and full of minerals its content,
- "Why not buy? " I question.

Heated it and added little lime
-delicious, rich with joy, I had it.

I have seen people who
-take the last of saving,
-breaking bank, piggy
-count Loonie and Toonie
-quarters, dimes, pennies
-for buying a burger or pizza…

Then compare all aspects;
- "they must be too lazy,
-stupid, losers and brainwashed
Out of mind and slave
-to mass of advertise…
-pushed on them
-at work and then after
-mule-work, Nine-to-Five! "

I do not follow them
-unless is once a while.
