Hope For The Future - Poem by Kristina Lybbert
The sun sit high in the sky
Trapped in my school prison I sigh
I look out the window to my right
Wishing that it was already night
I see a young girl with a babe in her arms
The babe is holding a few lucky charms
I pause and think for a bit
For I have nothing better to do than sit
Why does she walk all alone?
And look like she's been worked to the bone?
Where the father of this child could be?
Or does he not look and see,
Look and see the way she struggles
While her and the babe try to huddle
What if he is sitting in my class
I wonder if I know the ass
The bell rings and I have to leave
But as I go I hope and pray and believe
That the world will one day be
A better place for you and me
