Hope Is The Thing With Feathers (Hindi Translation Of Emily Dickinson's Poem)

Poet's Notes about The Poem

Hope Is The Thing With Feathers
by Emily Dickinson

'Hope' is the thing with feathers—
That perches in the soul—
And sings the tune without the words—
And never stops—at all—

And sweetest—in the Gale—is heard—
And sore must be the storm—
That could abash the little Bird
That kept so many warm—

I've heard it in the chillest land—
And on the strangest Sea—
Yet, never, in Extremity,
It asked a crumb—of Me.

I know that the original poem by Emily Dickinson has remained close to your heart since your childhood. Your ode on the poet was a testimony to it and it was indeed a great tribute to her. This inspired me to do the translation. Thanks for your kind words, Geeta ji.

This is the Best Classic poem of ED. As I have read other reviews, your translation is excellent and brilliant, Rajnish Sir! Well, Emily lived in an entire other era. Her Hope is the thing with feathers. This poem is well known amongst the ones who studied English Literature as I did. A most thought provoking poem, Sir. Fantastic translation, as I've read others who reviewed this poem's translation. Thank you so much for sharing, Rajnish Sir.
