Hunted Animals Poem by Mehta Hasmukh Amathaal

Hunted Animals

Hunted animals

Internally I cry
For all those who are needy
But fail to deliver
Or feel incapacity to offer

I lack sufficient power
To take measure
And provide protection to helpless
Who have fled their country and still face mad chase?

Death is still behind
Sometimes local population becomes hostile and unkind
Sometimes terrorists attack and kill
Our life is cheaper than rats still

Are we only unfortunate people?
Who struggle?
For survival in an alien land
Can we not expect change in their trend?

Please give us right to breathe?
Why are we chosen to meet with deaths?
Our children suffer and we are worst than hunted animals
Lord! Help us to live in the capacity of ordinary individuals!

Yes some of our people are black sheep
Who fail to keep?
The tradition of hospitality from the guest country
That is one of the biggest ironies
