I Am Not Gone - Poem by Aminath Neena

I am not gone
I only abandoned
my vessel of earthly clay
As I have outgrown it now
I will live in your eyes
as gleaming dew drops
you will wipe me
with your handkerchiefs
And feel the moistness
When I kiss your fingers
I will live on in the love of your hearts
as a scented white rose
smiling in all seasons
I shall mop the sweat from your foreheads
and whisper to you from the clouds
I shall hum a tune for you
and tell you tales
Love me and keep me with you
Remember me in your prayers
So that I may shine in glory, exalted
each prayer adding
to my sparkling sheen and vitality
Feel me walk beside you
Listen to my footsteps following you
and one day you will meet me again face to face
where our journeys end
where day light
pierce through the darkness
of the mundane night
where angels decor the heavens
in ribbons of violet hue
and where multiple destinies entwine
to take somersaults and reap the harvests
of this ficklest dream
one by one at the edge of life's waterfall
where we travel only once
till then you must go on living
with promises of tomorrows
sowing your crops
tending them with care
patiently as the living do
because just like my ancestors
who waited here before me
for our reunion-
I too, am patiently
waiting for you.

I am not gone-
