I Am Not Ungrateful

It is not that I am ungrateful
For the time that YOU have given me to live,
But, whilst there is no pain in my body,
Perhaps I can go to sleep.

With each passing second I praise YOU,
For the time I live in this World,
And thank you for the Gift of Poetry,
Which on me YOU have bestowed.

But why at three forty in the morning,
Do YOU give me more poems to write,
And take away the pain from my body
When sleep is what I wish for this night?

I know I need YOUR help, LORD,
To live my daily Life,
But please relieve me of the pain, LORD,
Not tonight, but every day and night.

My thoughts are constantly about YOU,
Of YOUR ongoing creations each day,
May YOUR Words cross my mind continually,
To put in more poems ~ I shall always pray.
