I Am Shepherd To They - Poem by Emmanuel Catalan

They run to me as a matter of purpose,
I seek to find more of them,
I manifest myself in a thousand ways to
make them listen,
Through temples and chapels is where they
worship me.

Old, young, black and white I accept all
to show them the light,
But first I command them to leave their
old life,
Abandon family and friends, get rid of
them all,
They’ll only defile what I intend to purify.

I tell them I’ll take them to an unseen
place if they follow my lead,
A place better than this if they only believe,
I become a drug to them so they can’t stay
away,
The opiate of the masses Karl Marx used to
say.

All of them see worse than a man who
is blind,
For none of them can see what’s
in front of their eyes,
By the time my intentions are finally
discovered,
I’ll bind to them tight before they try to
recover.

Then on the fall of the sun I’ll dropp the
disguise,
And finally I’ll reap them of what truly is
mine!
