I choose, I choose the mountain
With all its stress and strain
    Because only by climbing
Can I rise above the plain

A very nice poem, thanks poet.

    I cannot choose both
I have a choice to make
    I must be wise
    This will determine my fate

Great poet. Thanks for the poem.

    I choose the mountain
And I will never stop climbing
    I choose the mountain
And I shall forever be ascending

    I choose the mountain
    Great. No words.

i feel i like climbing the mountains and see the nature it has. i wonder when i have conquered it, i would tell the world how peaceful my mind is. i would think of how much of a pain it goes through the plains i see. this poem made me feel i have reached the top. thank you so much Howard (Report) Reply

I never come on here and I rarely comment anymore because I know how this site is. But I get it and I too choose the mountain. I've never read any of your other writings and probably never will but I read and heard this one and it was enough to make me comment. Don't stop what you do because eventually someone else will need to read this in choosing the mountain. (Report) Reply

This will determine my fate... centralising in one attempt we must succeed. It has beautifully painted in this poem. Thanks.

Howard, this kind of inspirational, rhyming, sing-song verse went out of style in the 1940s. You need to immerse yourself in good contemporary poetry if you want to improve as a poet. Check out my new website:

Let me know what you think of it. Yrs, JC
