Query to all of you that love poetry, and appreciate Mr. Neruda: what are your thoughts and comments regarding this poem I came across:

There are those that are Angels; Some are Saints
    They are among us, Dancing.
Are we so involved in our Pain-
That we can not see Them, Shining?
Are we so Indoctrinated to Believe
    In our own Shame-
That conversely, we who remain, are Sinners?

We revel in our Stupidity and Complicity
While the Saints and Spirits Sing with Benediction:
    The Poetry of our Souls.
Their Blessings bestowed upon us for an Eternity-
    Or in an Instant, Lost.

Take off your Garments of Mendacity,
    Your Mantles of Mediocrity!
Turn your faces toward the Angels
    With Supplication:
And Dance on the Naked Earth.

Mr. Neruda has always been one of my favorite poets; and I treasure this poem. I have always felt that Mr. Neruda incisively captures the natural, universal aspects of the ever constant dichotomy that constitutes our feelings and perceptions of 'love', without being disingenuous to the fact that it is real to each of us: to paraphrase Decartes, 'I love, therefore I am'......... Wow what can I say. For 40 years I have felt this and my heart hurts in fire and in cold. Hard to write with tears in my eyes and a lump in my throat (Report) Reply

'I do not see you but love you blindly' - great line, great poem. Love can only be blind. Intense love a blinder. (Report) Reply

Oh the fine line between love and hate. Def Leppard has this line 'when love and hate collides...' and U2; 'I can't live with or without you...' It is such a frustrating feeling, and yet, don't we all wish to have someone that we can feel that way about?

The poet seems possessed with love. Love seems to consume the poets life. Excellent and talented writer. (Report) Reply

I believe this poem is like marriage. I think that sometimes after time the love is because it's love. At times true and at times I wonder what more is there. (Report) Reply
