I Dreamt Poem by Johnna Mae Barrios

(I wrote this poem in partial fulfillment of my Lit 3 course.)


I was walking on a red carpet
With shining laces and beads on my garment.
People intervened my wide vision
Obviously trying to catch my attention.


I resumed walking with my head up,
Like a proud peacock that no one can beat up.
People were cheering my precious name
As I paid them with my glance and smile of fame.


I enjoyed my walk in the spotlight
Smiling sweetly as cameras flash with light.
I ramped smoothly in fascination
And people cheered me with great admiration.


Eleven escorts were guiding me
Towards the VIP seat reserved for me.
When suddenly my glass shoes gave out
Waking me up when I started to cry out.
