I'Ll Forget You - Poem by Maha Moustafa

It’s been some days
Seeming centuries and decades
I’ve been trying to be myself again
I tried to forget
I’m trying to distract myself
I’m trying to talk, laugh and study
Nothing feels alright
Food seems tasteless, life seems worthless
I’m needing the one who loved me
Not the one who easily let go
He told me to forget as if it was possible
One day when you can count my tears
I’ll forget you
One day when you can see my true joy
I’ll forget you
I was out, I’ve been helping
I was preparing a meal,
I felt hungry, I wanted to burry my feelings
I prepared everything, the setting was ready
But when I looked again, I lost my appetite
He left me nothing unmentioned
Everything we talked about
Everything we loved and hated together
I seem to find no pinhole for forgetting
It’s over we’ve got to see each other
Pretending nothing ever happened
Instead of him, holding my hands
Looking in my eyes saying “I love you”
I’ll have to see him, turn my face
And laugh fooling myself I forgot him
