I Lost Love - Poem by John Wanies

I lost love,
Won't you help me find it?
After all that compromise,
My maiden voyage capsized,
I said take it slow,
But it happened so fast,
It was too good to last,
Now I'm so far underground,
More lost than anything you've ever found,

I bled desperation,
But pretended to be fine,
Asked God for a sign,
But when it was time,
I stood around forever,
Trying to come back sounding clever,

I know I've seen peeks,
But I can no longer climb it,
It's not just the weather,
It's a change in the climate,
When the ice caps melt,
I don't think we'll survive it,

Cause I lost love,
Rescue teams couldn't find it,
I thought I was on track,
But love had me misguided,
I told you the truth,
In you I confided,
Now everyone knows,
And yes I do mind it.
