I'M Writing About Myself Tonight (Unbalanced) - Poem by Shelby Barker
I'm writing about myself tonight
because I know how to love you.
I'm writing about myself so that I might
be able to construe all of my thoughts,
some light and some so heavy,
screaming that my efforts are naught
and I'm in knots, so empty
of all but what taunts me.
I am haunted by a nightly ghost;
it hears my cries and it echoes,
it lashes, it looks like me.
Teach me how to see that
Which makes your eyes and lips widen
At me; teach me how to react
To my mistakes. Because inside
my mind is no self-tact. Inside
me is hate - stuffed into every crevice
not filled with undying, fated
Love for you.
