I Put A Baby To Sleep Poem by Pushkar Bisht

I Put A Baby To Sleep

I played with her a moment or two,
She smiled at me, and I laughed at her,
What a beautiful company I ever had,
Neither good nor bad in my mind,
But a picture of that baby was taken by my heart

I searched for happiness,
But the happiness was not found anywhere
Except in the tiny eyes of her

Her name was moon,
Oh really, she was looking like a bright moon,
That dispels the darkness of their parents
When they are sad
And her smile gives them pleasure for a moment

I took her into my lap,
And I sang no lullaby to her,
But she was peaceful and cheerful looking at my face,
Moving her tiny fingers and toes
As if it’s no more a child than a holy angel to brighten my life

She closed her eyes quietly
After having a good swing in my arms
When I saw her after some time
She was sleeping peacefully in my lap
And I thanked to God for such a beautiful gift
