I Struggled - Poem by joseph freeman

I struggled with the darkness
that filled my life.
I struggled with the emptiness.
I struggled with the strife.
I struggled with the loneliness
that threatened my soul.
I struggled with a life
that was out of control.
I struggled with questions.
I struggled with doubt.
I struggled with forces
within & without.
I struggled for years
Against overwhelming odds,
worshipping many
merciless Gods.
Then I learned
the secret of life,
the secret that ended
all of my strife.
