I Thought - Poem by Briana McLain

I thought I could trust you
But you proved I was wrong to
I could run away
And you would ask me to stay
I cried for a year
Counting every tear
I thought I did right
I put up a fight
You probably pity me
But there is one thing you don't see
I remember crying
When you laid there dying
When you look up at the sky
Where its way up high
During the night
Turn off the lights
Look at the star
And I am that far
To say good bye
Instead of a sweet hi
