I Tried Poem by L C Vieira

I Tried

I looked away, I wouldn't dream,
I locked my heart
from any possibility.

But still you came into my night,
and flirted with my misery.
You hunted me, you taunted me.

I can't fight it, I'm folding in -
your loveliness has taken me.
I look away reluctantly,
I look away, and then I see,
my heart is gone away from me.

Far away, if I would run,
you'd be there ready, waiting,
a phantom lover haunting me,
taking more than I can give -
you have it all, you have it all.

I look away, and look again,
from my beginning to my end.
