If I Gave You My Heart - Poem by Hasan Ali
If I gave you my heart would you promise
to keep it in a safe place forever
and remember to care for it? , be honest!
Could you promise you'd never ask for it back -
not today, tomorrow, ever?
And if you find you cannot give me this assurance,
could you bestow on me a little kindness
and give me yours as insurance?
You see I've never known for love to be timeless.
For I could never give you my heart complete
and put myself in a position I've been in before
where you'd consider all attraction to have become obsolete
and find your love for me is alive no more.
While I still adore you
