If Music Be... - Poem by Derrick Hubert Schnabel

if music be …

elusive music heard without listening
drowned in a torrent of sensation
sublime melodies in our hearts
intangible as the wind
sung with hearts not lips
aimless but pure
the music
it gives
pain relief
body and soul
four bars of Tristan
lift me above my plight
a theme from the Unfinished
can recall all that i have loved
no longer lost unloved unwanted
my life blood a symphonie pathetique
