In Nomine Deo Poem by Sheldon Carruthers

In Nomine Deo

Fool am I to wonder why I lived or died
when all the time it was a lie
for life is short and life is swift tis but a tiny gift
shackled we are but on this merry day we will be free
for the truth is all and all is we

In the midst of sorrow and suffering are small mercies
that shall by far out way all else when we learn to forget
that one onerous thing our self
for in days gone past we had a laugh but now we've lost our health
and wealth is nowhere to be seen a shattered dream amongst all else

At the bottom of the ocean may I reside with my pride hurt on which
I relied, I'll bide my time for now, is that the time, not now
God have mercy on me for far too long I've sung this same old song
Riddle me this riddle me that my cat is dead and I have a new hat
Yes, most bounteous God, wisest of them all, for in your wisdom you made me tall
and proud and strong but it won't be long now before I'm gone
So long farewell even though I might be sent to hell where it's so much cheaper to dwell
In heaven the rent is so much more expensive of that you cannot ignore for price of holiness is steeper still, Oh to be sure
