In The Sands Of Time - Poem by Aanusha Ghosh

Reflected in your clear eyes
Is a part of me that each day dies
The spell of every moment's magic
With you is all the more tragic
For it was never meant to last
Our future clouded by our past
Each tremor and twitch of your face
And the fluorescent aura of your gentle grace
The warmth of your hands, wrapped in mine
The stories oft repeated, nine times nine
The laughs oft laughed, oftener forgotten
In the afterglow of memories we had begotten
The lines traced on your knees by me
Those sandy conversations by the salty sea
Those nitty-gritties that no one observed
But by me were gently carved
Into the sandstone of my memories
In pictures that in time would freeze
The small things, the ones that never mattered
That dreams we had, and those that shattered
Will one day all recounted be
As a part of our history
