Independent Soul Poem by Colin Hurley

Independent Soul

Somewhere in the deep depths of human knowledge there rests an independent soul in his very own unsuspended hole
Looking for a purpose
with no way to the surface
tell me what is he to do when his only friends are finger number one and finger number two

Some say, when in the right place at the right time
you can here this independent soul crying out
Crying help!
but you have no way of finding his outer dimension
no way of reaching his unsuspended hole,
no way of helping this independent soul
So you search from the far reaches of anything you've seen
you exploit everything on the Earth that is green;
still nothing
we began to wonder if he knows something we don't
if there is some secret to this life that would explain it all
direct us to the top, without letting us fall
A Nirvana state; something strong that wouldn't break
but still he is lost deep down in your mind,
hidden well;
But it feels so close to you, you'd think you were blind
maybe the secret is in front of you everday
maybe there's nothing there and tomorrow is just another day
maybe we'll never know, and never truly find our soul
But just maybe you could bring me down and fill this hole
