Inspirational Quatrains.5. On Trials Poem by Valsa George

Inspirational Quatrains.5. On Trials

Rating: 5.0

Through rugged paths as we pass
And by the tests of life when we tire
Know, it's to make us glitter like brass
Just as a rod of iron is forged in fire!

Remember, the wisdom we have earned
Was never got through easy and facile ways
Our strength, not without trials, garnered
When we indolently relaxed on sunlit days

Vital it is how we respond to life's adversity
Here we have more of cares than cheers
If we sit immobilized by misfortune's gravity
The joys of life will slip unnoticed through our fingers

It is a very inspirational three-part quatrains. I particularly liked the third one and this two lines: If we sit immobilized by misfortune's gravity The joys of life will slip unnoticed through our fingers Nothing is further than truth of this. Great write! Thanks Valsa.

This strikes me as a balanced poem about a vexed subject. Was life ever meant to be a garden existence, without labor or stress? It certainly doesn't seem so. The important thing is to balance the seriousness with the levity. You identify what we want to prevent in the last lines, that is, being immobilized by misfortune's gravity. That is so well expressed, the very phrasing shows why we want to avoid that extreme. But a healthy awareness that only by effort can we transcend the weight of life is a truth that must be affirmed. There is a corridor between the extremes which isn't wide but it's long. That's where we find both the joys of levity and the joys of effort.

Failures are stepping stones to success. If one gets discouraged with adversity and does not try any more, there is no chance for success. One must forge ahead. Trial times are hard but must be faced. Beautiful triplet of quatrains for everyone to follow.
