Intimation Highway - Poem by Stephen Andrews
the zoom of the newsroom
hits the earth-bound net:
'3 minutes ago George W.
scratched his knackers in Congress'
'breaking news: Condolisa Rice
dabbles in the occult'
'Tony blair has no chest hair
and, rumour has it, it's Gordon Brown's fault'
'you can get monkey influenza
by talking to your neighbour'
'the stockmarkets are up and down
like a courting couple in a stolen moment'
'anthrax can be carried by old ladies' bicycle tyres
so be on the look out for smiling pensioners'
'Mike Tyson stuns the boxing world
by becoming a chess grandmaster'
'in Japan, they've devised electronic vox-boxes
so one can communicate with one's pet'
'stay tuned for all the latest developments
and news before it's even happened yet.'
