It’s Been Awhile Since I Have Floated - Poem by Saz Fairy

It’s been awhile since I have floated
The gentle glide of my feet along
Black paved roads of collection
To cry more than once in while,
At the hint of shimmer in you

Confidence is security I'm thinking
That little faith that you wont let me
Fail for a moment, or tumble,
Towards floating confidence
Found only in friendly acceptance

It’s not the relentless speeding throbbing
Of the floor beneath my shaking feet
That brings the stark awakening like ice
Or the burnt tearing conclusive reality
It’s the white echo light of nothing, silence

The rocks crumble downwards
As you help me run away
As I struggle, caught on railways
The hand rail gloss beneath my touch
Ducking, skidding, holding on for life

The change I kept for emergency calls
Lies stationary in my bag, now long used
The attention seeking payment now seems
Trivial and childish, the moment one exchanges
The payphone for the cell, locked in judgement

The freedom I bought for you, looks back
Mocking me, and all I ever wanted for us
It brought no freedom, just pressure
now guilt. Maybe its my turn to burn
And soon it will be time to see you cry

What happened to the pent house,
The lust filled dreams of paper furniture
Beautiful to look at, trembling at your touch
Until the after moment where it all just becomes
A whirlpool of tacky pathetic drama,

I have no afterthought, as I dwell in the flashbacks
Of awkward blissful thinking, as I floated down
The mirrored hallway, gazing at what I thought
Was the luckiest girl to ever dazedly fall
It’s been awhile since I have floated

Sarah there is so much in your work it reminds me of someone very close to my heart. Did I neglect some one so badly they chose to leave. (Report)Reply
