It Was Never Me... - Poem by FRED A ROMO

I’ve realized something
I’m not quite the poet I thought I was
I thought I had that special ability
to write beautiful poetry
now I see it was never me

Maybe I’m just a mere interpreter
kind of like a life to word translator
because in reality
all I did was take the beauty
that stood in front of me
put it in words on a piece of paper
ending up with a beautiful poem
without even trying
now that whole rhyming thing
just a case of coincidence,
don’t think I’d be here struggling
trying to find words that rhyme
writing a whole bunch of non-sense

So I don’t think that it was me
& this soo called special ability
a talent I see was never mine
but it was nice for the time being...

for a moment there
I almost felt like a poet
Never fully realizing
You are your own beautiful poem

Much sincerity in the words. Though every poet has a pond to swim in, plus, what you think trivial, is wisdom to another. (Report) Reply
