J-In Love, Unspoken - Poem by Marjorie DeBol DeFazio

My friends chuckle with delight
Seven years
They have tried to make a match
With me and other graying heads

Unwavering in my cowardice
I have pushed the suggested mates away
Finding always something not quite right
Fearing, I suspect, more loss

Loosing more, I think
By this carefully crafted stance
Protesting, perhaps too much
The joys of single life

Love refused to stay away
It came suddenly
In the guise of a new found friend
How now do I walk this path
