Jack - Poem by Snake Blocker

When I was 3, I played jacks.
At 4, I was introduced to the Jumping Jack puppet.
At 5, I would beg for Cracker Jacks…just for the prize.
And at 6, I ate my first Jack fruit.

Jack has always been in my life.

When I was 7, I could do Jumping Jacks during school's PE.
At 8, I learned to play Black Jack...
And I wondered…was the original Jack black?
And at 9, I killed my first Jackrabbit.

Jack has always been in my life.

When I was 10, I wondered…did Jack and Jill really need to run up that hill?
Couldn't they just walk?
Why did Jack have to climb that bean stalk?
Why didn't he just sell it?
I wondered why Jack jumped over that candle stick?
He could have walked around it.

Jack has always been in my life.

When I was 11, someone punched me and said, "Hit the road Jack."
I broke his nose and said, "My name is not Jack."
At 12, I watched the movie Billy Jack on TV,
And wanted to be just like him…a badass!

Jack has always been in my life.

When I was 13, I was given a Jack-in-the-Box for Christmas.
He was great for target practice.
I blew his head off with my pistol when he popped out of his box.
I never liked surprises.

Jack has always been in my life.

When I was 14, I got my first computer,
But I didn't "know Jack."
At 15, I learned what the expression, "Jack off" really meant.
Yah, I know I was sheltered.

Jack has always been in my life.

When I was 16, I was a member at the Jack La Lane Health Club.
At 17, I watched the movie, New Jack City.
After that I wanted to join either the Crips or the Bloods…
But I found out the Crips had a better dental plan.
And I wanted those gold teeth.

Jack has always been in my life.

When I was 18, my friend died from Jack Daniels.
At 19, I felt I hit the Jack pot when I moved out of the house.
At 20, my diet was Flap Jacks or Apple Jacks for breakfast,
Jack-in-the-Box for lunch,
And for dinner a Subway with some Cojack & Monterey Jack.
Unlike Jack Sprat who could eat no fat.

Jack has always been in my life.

When I was 21, I learned that girl "jacks" boy,
If boy doesn't "jack" girl first.
At 22, I saw car jacks, hijacks, and jacked up criminals.
And at 23, I almost died jacking up my car.

Jack has always been in my life.

When I was 24, my car got stolen because I didn't have Lo-jack.
At 25, I ran over a Jack Terrier.
At 26, a truck in front of me jack knifed.
And at 27, I married someone that tried to jack me up.
She was so jealous I called Jack Kevorkian to see if he could help.

Jack has always been in my life.

When I was 28, my friend died from Captain Jack.
At 29, I joined the Navy and sailed along the Union Jack.
And at 30, I met a woman in Jacksonville.
But she was "jacked up" too.

Jack has always been in my life.

When I was 31, I stuck a knife in a Jack ‘O Lantern and gave it to my boss.
At 32, I told my niece Santa Clause and Jack Frost weren't real.
At 33, I wrote about Jack the Ripper for my college theses.
At 34…with my Jack of Diamonds in hand,
I thought I was a jack of all traits…
But my ex-slut said I was a Jackass.

Jack has always been in my life.

When I was 35, I worked heavy construction and worked with various tools…
Like a Lumber Jack working hard I earned my pay.
My friend died using a sky jack and I broke my thumb with the Jack hammer.
I had to call emergency through the phone jack.

Jack has always been in my life.

When I was 36, I beat up a guy because he didn't know jack shit.
At 37, a guy died after I jacked him up.
So I guess life has its twists and turns.
No one knows what Jack will deal him.

I always wondered what life would be without him.
I'll have to ask my Grandpa Jack in heaven.
He always knew what the world was like.
He was the Jack that was the "good" in my life.
