Jerusalem! - Poem by Christian Richardt

Ved en Verdensstad jeg stødte fra,
ved en Verdensstad jeg atter lander;
i din Psalmeklang min Røst jeg blander,
Zion, Moriah og Golgatha!

Zions Bjerg, hvor Dalens Konge-Hyrde
vælted fra sit Bryst sin Sjælebyrde
til sin Harpes Klang i mægtig Bøn!

Moriah, hvor Mamres Hyrde-Konge
gik et Faderhjertes Fjed saa tunge,
løfted Kniven mod sin Alders Søn!

Golgatha, hvor Faderen for Alle
paa sin Eneste lod Smerten falde,
og hvor ingen Vædder skreg iløn!

Zion, Moriah og Golgatha,
Toner i et evigt Davids Psalter,
Stene til et evigt Herrens Alter,
hilst af Englenes Halleluja:

til din Alterfod jeg ydmygt haster,
paa dets Offerlam min Synd jeg kaster.
