Jive On Java - Poem by Jim Parker

O pure, perplexing brew undaunted
Vixen of my dreams unhaunted
Dreg of mirth and swill of tannic truth

For five I’ll buy your blessing antic
Ten will make my heart beat frantic
Beads of sweat my fevered brow construeth!

Then watch me in a corner fidget
Mind on wand-ring giant midget
Oxymorons tussling in my brain

“Can’t be, can’t be, ” hear me mutter
Brain resistant, heart aflutter
Java slowly steaming in its careless dark mien.
