Just Another Saturday Night - Poem by Chandra Hohmann

Crowded in the trailer.

Five, six, seven filled in the tiny space
Heater blaring, laughter all around us
As rain pounds down

Down, down, down around our heads

Hurry to close the windows
Hurry to close the vents

Bottles of vodka and gin jostling for room on the table
With the empty cans of soda, shotglasses and ice

Coughing, crying, fighting
Spin, fall, twirl
Around and around and around

Collapse where we are like a litter of puppies
On floor, or bed, or table
Curling round each other

Just another Saturday night.
