Just Do Me - Poem by Edith SaintFelix
I've been through a lot in my life
A lot of hardships and pain
But most of that's in the past
And my mentality isn't the same.
I think I've changed for the best
Although some people would disagree
They would disapprove of my choices
Meaning they'd be disappointed in me.
But life is full of disappointments
Even from people you wouldn't expect
But people are gonna doubt you either way
That's just something you have to accept.
You have to depend on yourself
Because no one else will
I don't have to follow anyone's footsteps
Because I have my own shoes to fill.
People will have their opinions
On what I should and shouldn't do
But they have no right to talk
Because they don't know what I've been through.
My life, my choice, my decisions
I'm talking control this time
Because this life I'm living isn't theirs
It's all and only mine.
