Keep Me Going - Poem by Emz Scott

Like a whisper in the wind
You were gone before you came
Like a memory of your time
I’m left with a necklace of your name
You slipped between my fingers
Before I barely got a grip
Now I’m looking back on missed memories
How could they let you slip?

Obliviously to everyone
My heart’s been torn in two
‘Cause it burns to have the feeling
I didn’t know someone like you
You would have filled my life with something
That at the moment just isn’t there
Imprisoned alone without you
Tell me how this torture’s fair?

I’ve tried my very hardest
To put the pieces back together
To bring you back into my life
But the distance has maimed forever

It’s your laughter that keeps me laughing
Your smile that gives me faith
Your touch that keeps me feeling
And the image of your face…
You keep me going
