thoughts swirl in their lying eyes

instead of my brain it's my heart that rots
bacteria fester and infections abound
I try to scream but no one can hear a sound

from time to time you appear in my head
things that you did and things that you said
they ring clear like a bell, bounce around in my mind
my heart is heavy; my eyes are lined
...

</>if one was to take a stroll in my head
all they'd find was dust instead
rusted cogs and jammed-up gears
broken dreams and diamond tears

</>I don't mind spending every night wishing on stars
and this distance seems farther than earth from mars
every little thing I do, every smile is for you
I dream that eventually you'll come through
...

guilt can take you down and kill you fast
the exposure is quick but the effects will last
the lies that were told and the chaos that followed
it's like a big pill that can't be swallowed
...

in the end, everyone ends up alone
but you don't have to have a heart made of stone
you can choose to love and live your life right
have dreams that put you to sleep every night
...

people say things are meant to be
but if they were then why can't you see
what you did was awfully wrong
this doesn't mean anything, this mournful song

they're from fear and hope, the love that's grown
