Last Minute Poem by Johnna Mae Barrios

Last Minute

Rating: 5.0

(I wrote this poem still in partial fulfillment of my Lit3 course. This is a free verse.)

Six thirty in the morning, a partly rainy morning.
The room is dark ‘cause of the cloud covering the light of the sun.
My phone alarms in its loudest volume.
But I turn it off.

Seven o’clock in the morning.
From the opened window, outside is still in dark.
I now have thirty minutes, before my ComSci laboratory starts.
I sit blankly on my bed.
Unknowingly, my body voluntarily falls back to my pillow.

Seven and twenty-nine in the morning.
My eyes hurts when fluorescent light wake me up.
I gaze at my alarm.
Gosh! One minute is left. I hurry to the bathroom.

On my one last minute, I don’t make it to class.
