Lately Melancholy Poem by L MILTON HANKINS

Lately Melancholy

A bitter, sad, and lonely night
The final candle is flickering low
Radio has switched to midnight jazz
Too late to search for a place to go.

The clock chimes two, or, maybe three
Silence screams in this darkening room, so
Thoughts revisit my very fondest dreams
Too late to search for a place to go.

Close my eyes tightly, thinking of you
Remembering those special times, though
I cannot return to live and love, and it's
Too late to search for a place to go.
