Learning The World Poem by Dónall Dempsey

Learning The World

Rating: 5.0

Of course
these things were always so

and were so
before him

but this was the first time
he noticed them

& put them into words
inside his head

even when he had no words
to speak them

still relishing the stream
of thought that
told him

water is wet
it either flows or stands still

it is either noisy or silent

you either put it
on you or in you.

How old could he have been then?

Learning the world for the first time!

Here now
an old man

learning it all over

as the paralysis
grips him tighter.

Intense, emotional write it would seem about how sometimes we are afraid to put into words what we feel like we're emotionally paralyzed or than there is the sad case of autism, the one where one looses their speech...Lot to interpet in here...marci.m.
