Lickin Love - Poem by Kitric Merritt

A spot, a paw,
A wet cold nose
It's Fathers Day today.

A whine, a bark,
Her cry for love,
She only wants to play.

A week, a month,
She starts to grow,
And do the things we say.

She jumps, she runs,
She finds the things,
We gather and we throw.

A pup, a gift,
She's Emmie Lou,
She attacks her little bow.

Brown eyes, stubbed tail,
A heart of gold,
Where did our puppy go.

A lick, a whine,
Her head she twists,
The puppy's still inside.

A gift of love,
My heart a glow,
It's Fathers Day today.
