Life Map, Indeed! - Poem by Scarlett Treat

Everyone should have an hour
To share the power
Of written words
Which come from the pen,
The heart, the soul,
The mind, the hand of a friend.

They trip lightly across the page,
Telling the beauty of an age,
Of a flower, a day,
A journey taken,
Or the pure joy
Of a safe return
To the warmth of home.

Maybe they stumble
In the darkness of pain,
Or bumble, bubbling over
The stones of sheer happiness.

Those words, which cannot
Be said aloud,
Memories, which bring
Too much pain if spoken,
But must be cleansed
If the wounds are to heal.

Those shared words
Call across the day,
Echos of emotions
Found on my own page,
Mirror images of my own life,

Picturing in my mind
Mama and Daddy,
Hugs, tears of laughter,
Kisses, tears of pain,
Feelings I thought
Never to feel again.

Those memories I found again,
Long since forgotten,
Brought to life again,
By the written wordsOf a Friend.....

A Life Map, Indeed.

I have received many, many poems
in my mailbox these past few days,
from my friends here on PH. and in
my Poetry Society and my Writer's
Guild, and so I thought to pen these
words of thanks and love to everyone!
So, HAPPY HOLIDAYS to all of you who
read this note, with love from
