Lifes Path - Poem by Gordon Jerome

Here alone on the range
It’s really not all that strange
To get lost in a thought now and then
As life’s path you start treading
Not knowing where you are heading
Or looking back at the places you’ve been

But still you walk it alone
Hoping someday you’re shown
The reason you were pointed this way
Perhaps fate played its part
Right from the very first start
Your first breathe on your very first day

Maybe you simply blinked
When you should have winked
Or turned left when you should have turned right
Is there a reason your here
With your thoughts so unclear
As you face your life’s now oncoming night

I don’t think there’s a plan
You simply do best you can
You can’t enjoy happy if you’ve never felt sad
So enjoy life, as you will
Accept its warmth and its chill
And for all its experiences be thankful not mad.
“closing thought”
Life is a journey we all must take
The path that we travel is by the choices we make
